Christmas Gifts For Everyone!
Ok, so TEAR do it, Compassion do it, Amnesty do it, Oxfam do it (probably the best campain in my opinion).
BUT - Now our own Churches of Christ, Global Mission Partners are doing it.
The Christmas gift catalogue for the poor.
COCOA Great Gifts catalogue
Most of us have everything we need. But there are plenty of people in the world who don’t. If you are agonising over gift choice this year, COCOA (Churches of Christ Overseas Aid) can make it easy for you with a whole catalogue of Great Gifts. Gifts such as these share with others our abundance and God’s love and compassion. To make someone else feel great, check out these Great Gifts. “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” (Matthew 25:40 TNIV)
It really is a good idea, many of you already do it for friends and extended family every year.
GMP actually have a temporary website up for the next few weeks, but if you can handle the not so functioning site before we launch our sweet new one, you can buy some gifts for people this year that will keep on giving…think - GOAT (milk for a long long time), think - Well (water for a community that keeps on running!) And many many more gifts to choose from. GO ON YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO

Intergenerational Worship
At our network gathering last Thursday (which was terrific!) a few of us had a discussion about the challenges and merits of intergenerational worship.
This discussion prompted me to read this book which is a recent release from the Alban Institute. The book is not available in Australian Christian bookstores, but can be accessed from the Vose Library (when I return it later this week) or you can purchase online.
The book summarises the challenges facing churches who desire to pursue intergenerational worship. Written by a group of contributors, the book offers a number of differnent perspectives and insights.
It's important to be aware that the Contributors write from a "Reformed" theological background. When it comes to discussing the practical implications for effective intergenerational worship, there is a strong underlying assumption that parents need to be vitally involved in helping children and teens to engage in worship gatherings. And herein lies the major weakness of the book: it's not written from a missional viewpoint. Most of us who warm to the ideal of multigenerational worship are grappling with issues of parents who come with no church experience. We grapple with increasingly fragmented and hurting parents and children for whom, the challenge to sit for an hour or so in a worship service (however we seek to make it enaging) is just plain difficult.
In the introduction, Howard Vanderwell points out that this is a contemporary issue that the church needs to continue to grapple with. I agree that this is a very important conversation that we need to keep talking about as we meet, as we grapple with Scripture and as we seek to live and worship in community both with believers and non-believers alike.

Every church has been strongly encouraged to nominate a trainer for their local church. June 8th is a great opportunity for Designated Trainers to be equipped with everything needed to take Childsafe into your own context.

Building a Playgroup Ministry
To order go to http://www.crsonline.com.au/
This book is a journal that is to be used with a resource DVD and a Guide that can be purchased separately.
Quote from the introduction:
" I see a future of Christian plygroups that will awaken a nation. I see mothers, children and fathers falling in love with Jesus for the very first time. A successful playgroup is not about how many women attend, how creative the craft, or tasty the morning tea. Its about how many women ar meeting Christ through you? Do you shine out his love and acceptance of them? Do you see women as God sees them? do you really get to know them, their hurts and pains? "
It requires you to take the people working with you through a 5 part small group process using the journal - with 6 daily readings each week individually. The leader being the guide and facilitator watching a small part of a DVD and discussion.

Kids Church Programming
We do not use this site as a venue for pushing products but for those of you who like me can get stuck on “one-way” of doing Kids church and you feel you would like a change. ( I think it’s a guy thing) Here is one I am currently using for the first time and I highly recommend it.
I was unable to get my usual material on time from my provider for the first week in January so I called on KidsReach and its been great. This comes in 4 week plans and is inexpensive at $35 for all you need – PowerPoint’s, photocopiable worksheets, stories, object lessons and craft ideas
Check out www.kidsreach.org.au This is the organisation David Goodwin is involved with.
